What I learned about the importance of planning a video before filming
Recently, while working on a video project for AndyLife, I realized something I'd only heard about: having a script or storyboard is more critical than it seems.
If I had to explain it to an employer who doesn't know what it's about, I'd say something like this: "A video script is like the map you use before hitting the road. It helps you know where you're going, what you need to bring, and what steps to take to avoid getting lost."
Before making my video, it was enough to have an idea and go out and film. But I learned that without a clear script, everything becomes improvised, time is wasted, and often, the message doesn't come across strongly. Having a script means visualizing beforehand what I want to say, how I will present it, what emotions I want to provoke, and what action I want the viewer to take.
